Students will explore the intricacies of the Executive Branch, including the roles and responsibilities of key officials and state agencies. The Judicial Branch segment will cover the organizaiton and operation of California's court system, highlighting significant judicial processes and landmark cases. 

Additionally, the course will delve into the diverse landscape of California's local governments, examining their roles, powers, and interactions with state authorities.

POLI X422 Lobbying & Budget (2.0 Semester Units)

Explore the lobbying landscape and budgetary processes within the state of California and gain insights into the strategies, regulations, and ethical considerations of lobbying in California, understanding its impact on policy-making and governance.

This course will cover the intricacies of the California budget process, including the formulation, approval, and implementation of the state budget. 

POLI X423 Elections, Direct Democracy, & Rulemaking (2.0 Semester Units)

Examine the electoral processes, direct democracy mechanisms, and rulemaking procedures in California. Participants will explore the state's political and election laws, gaining insights in the legal frameworks that govern elections and the unique aspects of direct democracy, such as initiatives, referendums, and recalls. 

Additionally, this course will cover the California rulemaking process, including the development, implementation, and impact of regulations.

POLI X424 California Legislature, Process, & Drafting (2.0 Semester Units)

Explore the California Legislature, focusing on its structure, functions, and legislative processes. Participants will delve into the intricacies of the legislative process, from bill introduction to enactment, understanding the roles of various legislative bodies and committees. 

The course will also cover legislative drafting and statutory interpretation, providing practical insights into how laws are written, analyzed, and applied.
