Our Early Education Intervention Specialized Training Award is a non-degree training program designed to strengthen the capacity of Family Child Care Home Providers and home-based early care professionals to provide an inclusive, accessible care for young children with diverse developmental needs. Our communities need specialized expertise in early intervention, developmental screening, positive behavior support, environmental adaptations, and family-centered practices.

Required Courses: 

EDUC 807.1 Foundations of Early Intervention and Inclusive Practice in Family Child Care Homes

This course provides Family Child Care Home (FCCH) and FCCHEN providers with foundational knowledge of child development, developmental screening, early identification, and inclusive practices in homebased early learning environments. Participants will learn to recognize developmental milestones and warning signs, adapt routines and environments for children with diverse needs, and implement strategies that support children with IFSPs, IEPs, and neurodivergent learners. The course emphasizes practical applications for mixed-age home settings and family-centered care. 

EDUC 807.2 Positive Behavior Support, Family Partnerhip, and Early Intervention Collaboration

This course focuses on positive behavior support, trauma-informed care, and family engagement strategies for home-based early childhood educators. Participants will develop skills in positive behavior assessment, behavior intervention planning, culturally responsive family partnerships, and navigation of early intervention and community support systems. Through applied learning activities, providers will gain tools to understand and support  challenging behaviors, prevent placement loss, and strengthen inclusive care for children and families.
